Norimode tablets are manufactured by Tillomed and are used to alleviate diarrhoea symptoms. The active ingredient loperamide hydrochloride works by slowing down intestinal contractions that move food and faeces through the gut. This allows firmer stools to form before being passed from the body.

Diarrhoea is a condition that most people experience at some point in their life. Symptoms make a person pass stools more frequently, and quite often with urgency. Solid stools don’t get chance to form and so those which are passed from the system can be watery and unpleasant. The condition is often caused by an episode of gastroenteritis contracted from a virus, bacteria or parasites. However, some people develop diarrhoea as a result of anxiety, drinking too much alcohol or a food allergy.
A diarrhoea episode can last for a few days and can generally be managed with rest and plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. People do not usually develop further health complications due to diarrhea. However, it is vital that lost fluids, salts and sugars are replaced so that the body can continue to function properly. If you do not replace these essential substances then there is a chance of dehydration. Dehydration can be dangerous as many parts of the body need water to work effectively. Someone who is dehydrated will feel drowsy or lightheaded and urinate less often.
More severe cases of diarrhea may require treatment in order to get symptoms under control. One option is Norimode tablets which are taken orally with water. The active ingredient loperamide hydrochloride sets to work on the opioid receptors found in the intestines. It does this by reducing the intestinal contractions which usually push food and faecal matter through the system. By slowing this process down the body is able to reabsorb the excess fluid and form more solid stools. If symptoms persist following a course of treatment, you should contact your doctor.
