Product information

Invicorp is an injection for erectile dysfunction, marketed by Evolan Pharma. It contains two active ingredients: aviptadil and phentolamine mesilate. Collectively these work by temporarily increasing the flow of blood to the penis, and decreasing flow of blood away from the penis. This enables the user to achieve an erection and stay firm enough for intercourse. Invicorp might be recommended to patients who have tried alprostadil-based medicines and found them to be ineffective.

You can only buy Invicorp online from our site if you have:

  • used it before on the instruction of a doctor;
  • and been shown how to use it, in person, by a doctor or nurse.

Patients using Invicorp will also need to have three-monthly checks with their doctor.

What causes ED?

It’s estimated that around half of all men over 40, and around a quarter of men under 40, will experience some form of erectile dysfunction. There are several factors which can cause it. In some cases, these may be related to an underlying long-term condition, such as high blood pressure or diabetes. In some cases, lifestyle factors such as being overweight, alcohol consumption, tobacco use and recreational drug use can also be responsible.

It’s common too for psychological or emotional factors to cause impotence. These can be feelings of anxiety around sex, or something not related to sex, such as professional or financial stress.

On a biological level, when a man becomes aroused, chemical signals in the body tell blood vessels to open and allow blood into the penile muscle, which produces an erection. In ED, these blood vessels are restricted, so not enough blood can reach the penis, despite sexual stimulation. This is why medical conditions linked to the flow of blood, such as hypertension or diabetes, can so often result in ED.

How is it treated?

Often, addressing lifestyle factors (by for instance losing weight, getting more exercise, quitting smoking or stopping using recreational drugs) can help; as can talking out any psychological problems that may be the cause.

In cases where this has not resolved the problem, or where reduced blood flow is thought to be the primary cause, treatment may be recommended.

Oral tablet treatments are typically the first option for most men. However, if for some reason these medications are not suitable, or if someone has tried these and they haven’t worked, then other types of treatment, such as Invicorp, might be considered.

Patients should see a doctor in person if they are experiencing erectile dysfunction for the first time. If an underlying health condition is directly responsible, a doctor will be able to help identify this, and offer treatment accordingly.

How does Invicorp work?

The two functioning agents in Invicorp are aviptadil and phentolamine mesilate. Phentolamine mesilate helps to lower arterial blood pressure, and this allows blood to flow more easily to the penis. Aviptadil works in a similar way, but helps to keep blood in the penis once aroused, enabling better, lasting erections.

Use according to the directions given by your doctor, and make sure you follow the instructions in the patient information leaflet carefully.

  1. Take as directed.
  2. Before you use Invicorp for the first time, a doctor or nurse will need to show you how to use it. If you haven’t used Invicorp before, or have not been shown how to use it by a healthcare professional, you should not order it online and speak to your doctor in person.
  3. If you have used Invicorp before, but have forgotten how to administer it or had any issues with your first injection, don’t attempt to use the treatment and ask your doctor for advice.
  4. Once you have started using Invicorp, your treatment will need to be regularly monitored (on a quarterly basis) by a doctor.
  5. Keep injections in the fridge. When you are about to take the injection, you can either use it straight from the fridge or allow it to warm up to room temperature first.
  6. The injection should be given into the tissue on the left- or right-hand side of the penis. When inserted, the needle should not penetrate through to the urethra, or be inserted into any veins or blood vessels.
  7. Detailed instructions on how to prepare and use Invicorp, with diagrams, can be found in the patient information leaflet.
  8. The drug should work after a short time. The erection it produces should not last for more than an hour.
  9. If you develop an erection which continues for four hours or more, seek medical attention right away.
  10. The maximum dose is one injection per day, and no more than three injections per week.
  11. Do not exceed the dose recommended by your prescriber.

Please consult the leaflet provided for more information.
