Licensed, legitimate medications for erectile dysfunction are widely used by men across the world. But for a lot of men over the past 20 years, one of the problems associated with getting erectile dysfunction treatments such as Cialis, particularly when shopping online, has been the risk of being sold fake tablets.

Since oral impotence medicines became widely available in 1998, there have been several instances of unscrupulous sellers distributing counterfeit ED drugs such as sildenafil.

Cialis and Tadalafil (the generic version) are no different in that these drugs are susceptible to these illegal practices too.

However, as long as you know what to look for, it is possible (and quite straightforward) to get Cialis online safely.

We’ve put together a simple guide, to help you make sure that the product you’re buying, and the seller you’re buying from, is safe, authentic, and legal.

What should the website offering Cialis have?

To trade legally in the UK, a pharmacy must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. If the website you are using is genuine, it will usually include a link to their entry in the council register, along with a logo:

Before using any pharmacy website for the first time, click on the link to check that they are registered and licensed to sell medication.

The pharmacy should also display a property address and contact details. If it does not, then it is likely that the website you are using does not have a legal base of operations, and is operating outside the law.

But perhaps the most obvious giveaway when it comes to illegal pharmacy websites is presentation. Take a look around at the site. Is it badly designed? Does the content contain spelling errors and mistakes? If the website has a less than professional appearance, then it is likely a less than professional operation.

What should the website ask for?

Websites can’t just hand over Cialis at a low price. In the UK and Europe, it is only possible to get Cialis or Tadalafil (generic Cialis) with a prescription. This means that in order for a pharmacy website to be able to sell you this product, they must either:

  • ask you to present a valid prescription
  • or provide a safe and secure means of issuing one

In order to obtain a Cialis prescription you should be prepared to answer various medical questions. These might relate to your general health as well as the condition for which you are buying medication. You will also need to provide some personal details.

The doctors who review your medical assessment must be registered with the General Medical Council. You can check this information here

How does ordering Cialis online work?

The checkout process for buying medication online is very similar to any other online shopping experience.

The website should provide written terms and conditions. It is good practice to read through this information before you agree to it.

When you place your order with an online pharmacy you should expect to receive email confirmation. This confirmation should advise you that your order has been received and is being processed. It should contain a corresponding order number.

It is also customary to expect another email to inform you when your order has been approved by a doctor and if there are any problems processing your medication.

Another good indication of a trustworthy website is the methods of payment it accepts. Look out for reputable payment gateways such as CLiQ Payments. If you are asked to send cash in advance, or the website takes you to an insecure payment page then it is a good idea to search for your medication elsewhere.

What does genuine Cialis look like?

Cialis tablets should:

  • be yellow or orange-yellow in colour
  • be almond shape
  • have the letter ‘C’ followed by the dosage number on one side
  • be stamped with the correct dosage 2½, 5, 10 or 20mg
  • be sealed in a branded blister pack

Cialis tablets should not:

  • be sold loose, without a blister pack
  • have numbers or letters other than those listed above inscribed on them
  • be a different colour or shape

The appearance of Tadalafil can vary, because it’s a generic medication made by several different manufacturers. But as long as you follow the guidelines on using registered pharmacies, you will receive a product that is genuine, tested, licensed for use, and safe.
