There are three doses of Viagra available, the highest of which is 100mg. Because it contains such a large amount of the active ingredient sildenafil, it is only issued in certain cases.

When Lower Doses Have Not Worked

If after starting on the middle dose, the patient finds that the medication does not quite produce an erection firm or sustainable enough for sexual intercourse, then a doctor may recommend raising the dose to Viagra 100mg.

Users should be aware that taking the pill alongside alcohol or a large meal may reduce its effects. When taking a lower dose, it is advisable to eliminate these function-inhibiting factors before approaching your doctor because the treatment hasn’t worked sufficiently.

When the User Is Not at Risk of Harmful Side Effects

As with any medication, a doctor will always prescribe the lowest dose possible. The highest dose of Viagra is only given where appropriate to those patients who are healthy and are absolutely not at risk of experiencing side effects. If, during use of the Viagra 100mg dose, a patient notices any side effects, then they should report these to their doctor, who may well suggest the readministration of a lower dose, or a different treatment altogether.

Clinical Trials

Investigations undertaken into the efficacy of sildenafil have shown that:

  1. the 100mg dose produces erections maintainable enough for sex in 82% of men surveyed
  2. compared with 74% who took the middle dose
  3. and 63% who used the lowest dose.

A trial carried out by Russian scientists found that while the highest dose and the middle dose presented similar physical effects, the 100mg dose reduced anxiety related to sexual encounters in those men tested. One other study carried out in France found that use of the higher dose did not increase the incidence of serious side effects in comparison to the regular version.

However, we would still not recommend that you use Viagra 100mg as a starting dose.

Where You Should Start

Every patient is different. The advantage of having three doses available is that your doctor can reduce or raise the treatment, or indeed keep it the same, according to your individual response. We would therefore advise that if you are encountering persistent erectile problems but are generally healthy, and are a first-time Viagra user, then you should consult with a doctor about using the middle dose.

Don’t Believe the Scammers

There are only three doses of Viagra available, despite what any other websites may claim. Any pharmacy offering to sell you 150mg or 200mg versions of the drug or higher, is selling counterfeit versions and operating outside the law.
