Anusol is a medication used to help relieve irritation and discomfort caused by piles, otherwise known as haemorrhoids. It is manufactured by McNeil and available to buy from Treated.com in two forms: Anusol HC suppository tablets and Anusol ointment. These items contain several functioning agents which work by soothing the inflamed area, preventing infection and facilitating healing. The ointment is are applied to the area affected twice daily (once in the morning, once in the evening) and again after each time a stool is passed, up to a total of four times per day. The suppositories are inserted into the anus once in the morning, once in the evening and after a bowel movement, up to a maximum of three times per day.

Haemorrhoids is a condition which is not uncommon. It will affect as many as 40 per cent of people at some point in their lives, but it occurs more often in those over the age of 45. Put simply, it is characterised by the development of varicose veins in the anal region, or inside the rectum. This causes swelling, inflammation, an uncomfortable or itchy sensation, and occasionally slight bleeding when going to the toilet.

The problem is caused when pressure in the blood vessels surrounding the anal region increase. As a result those who are overweight or obese are more likely to get piles, as are those who spend long periods sitting down. It may also be due to constipation, or conversely, diarrhoea. The condition however is not serious, and in many cases, symptoms will pass within a few days. But those who experience blood loss when opening their bowels should visit their doctor in any case, as it may be indicative of a more serious illness.

Prevention methods for piles include: diet management, for instance eating more fibre to reduce constipation; losing weight; and introducing light exercise to lower increased blood pressure. However, these measures will not always be sufficient in stopping or reducing the presence of haemorrhoids, and in such cases, medication may be necessary to help ease discomfort.

The main active ingredients in Anusol are zinc oxide, balsam peru and bismuth oxide. All three have antiseptic qualities, while zinc oxide helps to limit swelling, balsam peru promotes the regrowth of healthy skin, and bismuth oxide soothes irritation. Anusol HC ointment, which you can buy from our UK pharmacy, contains these three components in addition to hydrocortisone acetate, a corticosteroid which treats inflammation, and benzyl benzoate, which is also an antiseptic ingredient. The suppository version contains the same ingredients as the ointment and works in the same manner.

Our simple consultation interface allows you to get the haemorrhoid solution you need, delivered to your home, in just one working day. We know piles can be a tough subject to bring up in person, which is why we have designed our service to guarantee your complete discretion and safety. Take a few minutes to answer our medical questionnaire, and once your order has been approved by our registered UK doctor, we’ll ship it to you by overnight courier.
