Haemorrhoids are incredibly common, with over 40 per cent of people thought to encounter them to some extent at least once in their lives. They are caused by the formation of varicose veins in or around the rectal region, and are often a result of high pressure in the vessels situated there. Symptoms of piles include itching or irritation in the area affected, swelling, and on occasion, the appearance of blood after going to the toilet.

There are a number of factors which can contribute to haemorrhoids, including being overweight or obese, regularly sitting on hard seating for long periods of time, being constipated, or being pregnant. It is also more common in those who are aged 45 and over. Most cases of piles will pass on their own without the need for medical intervention, but you should be aware that the presence of blood is something your doctor should be notified of as soon as possible.

Preventative action for haemorrhoids includes such measures as: losing weight; making dietary adjustments, such as eating more fibre, to alleviate constipation; and undertaking light exercise to bring down blood pressure. However, these approaches are not always sufficient in reducing the effects of haemorrhoids, and in some cases treatment may be required to provide adequate relief.

In Proctofoam HC, the active ingredients are hydrocortisone acetate and pramocaine hydrochloride, which work in different ways to treat piles. Hydrocortisone is a corticosteroid, which reduces inflammation in the area it is applied to; whereas pramocaine is an anaesthetic which soothes pain and discomfort, and relieves itching.

Getting access to the piles medication you need has never been simpler. Take our health assessment today, and one of our qualified physicians will review your responses. Following approval, your order will be dispensed at our UK pharmacy and shipped to your door by next-day courier.
