Product information

Zolmitriptan Orodispersible tablets are a drug used in migraines, and are made by Actavis. They are a generic form of the treatment called Zomig, by AstraZeneca, containing the same active compound: a triptan called zolmitriptan. This product helps to alleviate pain and other symptoms by narrowing inflamed, swollen blood vessels around the brain.

There are several different types of migraine, and which symptoms you get depends on which category yours falls into. Migraine with aura is so called because the strong, throbbing headache is preceded and accompanied by other ailments, including: the appearance of dark patches or flashing zig-zagging lines in the field of vision; an increased sensitivity to sound; and nausea and vomiting.

Those who have migraine without aura will not experience these sensations, and will just get the intense headache; which is usually felt on one side or at the front of the head. Another type is called silent migraine, and this is characterised by the presence of aura, but no headache.

It is not known why some people are more susceptible to this condition than others. As with most other conditions, genes are thought to be a possible factor; if migraines run in your family, then you may be more prone to them. Symptoms occur when blood vessels around the brain become inflamed and swell.

Triggers tend to vary from person to person. They can be anything from the consumption of caffeine, or alcohol, to feelings of stress or physical tension. A change in hormone levels in the body can also initiate a migraine.

As migraines cannot yet be cured, the aim of treatment is to reduce pain and ease other symptoms. Regular painkillers can be effective some of the time, but in other cases, more targeted and specific medication may be required. This is usually issued in the form of a tryptamine-based drug, or triptan. Zolmitriptan belongs to this class of prescription medicines. It contains a functioning constituent of the same name, which is a 5HT agonist. It stimulates receptors in the brain in a similar way to serotonin, and reduces symptoms by narrowing enlarged blood vessels.

If you are having migraine symptoms for the first time, or have never used treatment before, you should see your GP for advice.

You can buy Zolmitriptan online with our secure consultation service. Just take a couple of minutes to fill out our medical assessment, and one of our practising doctors will review your case. Following approval, your items will be dispensed and shipped to you by express courier.
