Product information

InVita D3 is used to prevent or treat a vitamin D deficiency. The capsules contain the active ingredient colecalciferol.

Why is vitamin D important?

Vitamin D is important because of its role in helping the gut to absorb phosphate and calcium. It thereby helps the body to maintain bone strength and keep muscles healthy. A vitamin D deficiency can be linked to the development of osteoporosis and other health complications.

Due to low sunlight exposure during the autumn and winter months, people living in the UK may wish to consider a vitamin D supplement. Public Health England recommends a reference nutrient intake (RNI) of 10 micrograms per day for everyone over the age of four.

What causes a vitamin D deficiency?

Vitamin D deficiency is a common problem in the UK, although not everyone with a deficiency will be aware that they have one. The essential vitamin is produced by the skin when it is exposed to ultraviolet B (UVB) rays from sunlight. The body is also able to create stores of vitamin D in adipose or fat tissue to use when sunlight exposure is infrequent. The amount of vitamin D being synthesized and stored by the body can be dependent on a number of factors including the season, time of day, clothing and the presence of sunscreen.

Sunlight exposure is the main source of this vitamin for most people. Vitamin D can be found in some foods, such as oily fish, egg yolks, liver and fortified cereals but the amount is not usually at sufficient levels.

It is possible for anyone to develop a vitamin D deficiency at any point in their life. There are particular groups of people who may be more likely to be affected than others. Pregnant women, women who breastfeed, ethnic minority groups with dark skin, young children and people with little exposure to sunlight may be advised to take a vitamin D supplement to make sure that they are receiving sufficient amounts.

What are the symptoms of a vitamin D deficiency?

People deficient in vitamin D may feel generally unwell, achy or tired. Ongoing deficiency can lead to significant musculoskeletal problems such as osteomalacia, osteoporosis or bone fractures.

How can I buy InVita D3 online?

Those wanting to prevent a deficiency and maintain good vitamin D levels can take a lower dose of InVita D3.

If you wish to purchase your InVita D3 treatment online with Treated.com, please complete our short questionnaire. Your answers will be reviewed by a GMC-registered doctor and, following approval, your items will be shipped by tracked, next-day courier.
