Product information

Caverject Vials / Dual Chamber

Caverject is an injectable drug, indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. It is available to buy from our online pharmacy in two forms, as Caverject Vials and as Caverject Dual Chamber. Both perform the same function, but are applied in slightly different ways, and provided in different strengths.

Caverject is only available to buy from for patients who have used it before, and been shown in person by a doctor or nurse how to administer it. If you have not used it before and been shown how to use it, you must see your doctor in person to be prescribed Caverject.

  1. Noticeable differences in as little as 5 minutes
  2. Available in two forms
  3. Simple to use injections

When you buy Caverject injection vials you get: a vial containing the active ingredient alprostadil in the form of a powder; a syringe containing the mixing solution; and two types of needles. The larger needle is used to insert the liquid into the vial containing the powder; and once this has dissolved, the smaller needle is used to inject the mixed solution into the base of the penis.

Those who buy Caverject dual chamber will receive injections that do not require assembly. The medicine is activated when the two chambers mixed together.

What is ED?

Impotence is a taboo subject for many men, but that doesn’t make it any less common. Most men will experience erectile dysfunction at some point in their lives. It’s important to keep in mind that ED can be caused by almost anything, such as the presence of conditions like diabetes, or anxiety, or the consumption of alcohol.

It is a common misconception that the condition only hits after a certain age. Granted, the condition is more widespread among older men, due to health and lifestyle factors which tend to run alongside the ageing process, such as raised cholesterol and increased blood pressure. But it is not uncommon for younger men to experience ED. One of the main causes of the condition among men in their 20s and 30 is mental strain. A job may be causing anxiety, or pressure to perform well sexually may be making one feel self-conscious, and obstructing erectile potency.

Biologically, erectile dysfunction is most typically a result of the restriction of blood flow to the penis. This can be a consequence of muscle walls inside blood vessels close to the penis tightening up, and not letting enough blood through.

How does Caverject work?

The active ingredient in Caverject is a medicine called alprostadil, which works in a comparable way to a hormone present in your body called prostaglandin E1 (PGE1). This hormone is responsible for the easing and dilation of blood vessels, which in cases of ED, can become constrictive and hinder erectile performance.

After being injected into the base of the penis, alprostadil encourages these blood vessels to dilate, allowing for easier circulation and increased erectile function. Alprostadil should only cause erections if you are sexually stimulated. Other products, including MUSE, also contain this active ingredient.

Which dose should I use?

Caverject Vials come in the form of 10 mcg, 20 mcg or 40 mcg vials; whereas Caverject Dual Chamber comes in either 10 or 20 microgram strength packs. The strength issued to you by a doctor will depend on whether you have used the medicine before, and whether it was effective.

To test suitability of the treatment, first time users of Caverject Vials might be prescribed the 10 microgram injection but only advised to use one quarter of it (2.5 micrograms), providing they have no pre-existing medical conditions. A 5 microgram injection used to be prescribed but this dose has been discontinued by the manufacturer. If the treatment causes no side effects, a doctor may prescribe the same dose when more is required, or a stronger dose if necessary.

For Caverject Dual Chamber, a doctor may typically prescribe the 10 microgram pack for first time users, and advise them to use only a quarter of the dose. They might then advise the patient to increase the dose by 2.5 micrograms each time they use it, until a satisfactory erection is obtained. Again, the stronger 20 microgram pack might be issued if the lower dose is well tolerated but does not have the desired effect.

If you have not used this treatment before, do not buy this treatment online and see your doctor. They will need to perform checks to ensure it is suitable for you, and show you how to use it.

Patients who have been shown how to use this medication by a doctor or nurse and have used it before can buy Caverject from our UK pharmacy.

Stay safe when buying online

Ordering medicines online should always be undertaken with the utmost care. It is important to ensure that the website you are buying from can fulfil your order, and is operating legally.

Some online pharmacies may claim that you can buy Caverject from them as a generic alprostadil injection. However, no licensed generic form of the medication is currently available.

An NHS doctor can prescribe Caverject, but will only issue it on an NHS prescription in certain cases. In all cases, patients who can take oral ED treatments are generally advised to try those first (before being prescribed non-oral options).

To protect yourself from fraudulent practices when you buy erectile dysfunction medicine online, you should only ever use GPhC-registered pharmacies staffed by qualified prescribers.

At, we work with GMC-registered doctors and UK pharmacy prescribers to help us ensure that our treatments are safe.
