If you’ve never used Caverject Vials before, your doctor may prescribe the 5 microgram version in order to test its suitability.
The 10 microgram strength may be issued after the introductory dose has been established as safe.
In cases where 10 micrograms has proved ineffective, the 20 microgram version may be prescribed to those still experiencing ED symptoms.
The maximum strength is 40 micrograms, and this will only be issued if the 20 microgram dose has produced a less than sufficient response.
The 10 microgram strength is typically issued to those who have not used this treatment before.
Caverject Dual Chamber 20 microgram strength may be issued if you have safely used this product before but require a slightly stronger dose.

Caverject Vials / Dual Chamber
Caverject is an injectable drug, indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. It is available to buy from our online pharmacy in two forms, as Caverject Vials and as Caverject Dual Chamber. Both perform the same function, but are applied in slightly different ways, and provided in different strengths.
- Noticeable differences in as little as 5 minutes
- Available in two forms
- Simple to use injections
When you buy Caverject injection vials you get: a vial containing the active ingredient alprostadil in the form of a powder; a syringe containing the mixing solution; and two types of needles. The larger needle is used to insert the liquid into the vial containing the powder; and once this has dissolved, the smaller needle is used to inject the mixed solution into the base of the penis.
Those who buy Caverject dual chamber will receive injections that do not require assembly. The medicine is activated when the two chambers mixed together.
What is ED?
Impotence is a taboo subject for many men, but that doesn’t make it any less common. Most men will experience erectile dysfunction at some point in their lives. It’s important to keep in mind that ED can be caused by almost anything, such as the presence of conditions like diabetes, or anxiety, or the consumption of alcohol.
It is a common misconception that the condition only hits after a certain age. Granted, the condition is more widespread among older men, due to health and lifestyle factors which tend to run alongside the ageing process, such as raised cholesterol and increased blood pressure. But it is not uncommon for younger men to come into contact with ED. One of the main causes of the condition among men in their 20s and 30 is mental strain. A job may be causing anxiety, or pressure to perform well sexually may be making one feel self-conscious, and obstructing erectile potency.
Biologically, erectile dysfunction is most typically a result of the restriction of blood flow to the penis. This can be a consequence of muscle walls inside blood vessels close to the penis tightening up, and not letting enough blood through.
How does Caverject work?
The active ingredient in Caverject is a medicine called alprostadil, which works in a comparable way to a hormone present in your body called prostaglandin E1 (PGE1). This hormone is responsible for the easing and dilation of blood vessels, which in cases of ED, can become constrictive and hinder erectile performance.
After being injected into the base of the penis, alprostadil encourages these blood vessels to dilate, allowing for easier circulation and increased erectile function. Alprostadil should only cause erections if you are sexually stimulated. Other products, including MUSE, also contain this active ingredient.
Which dose should I use?
You can buy Caverject from our UK online pharmacy in the form of a 5 mcg, 10 mcg, 20 mcg or 40 mcg injection vial; or you can buy Caverject Dual Chamber in either 10 or 20 microgram strength packs. The strength you use will depend on whether you have tried using the medicine before, and whether it was effective.
To test suitability of the treatment, when you buy Caverject Vials for the first time you might be advised to use the 5 microgram injection, provided you have no pre-existing medical conditions. If the treatment causes no side effects, a doctor may prescribe the same dose when more is required, or a stronger dose if necessary.
In cases of Caverject Dual Chamber, a doctor may typically prescribe the 10 microgram pack for first time users. If you have tried this version before and experienced no side effects, but found that it was less than fully effective, then your doctor might suggest trying the stronger 20 microgram pack.
