Product information

Description

Pantoprazole is a medicine used in the treatment of symptoms related to gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), including acid indigestion, heartburn and discomfort while swallowing. It is also used as a long term medication for reflux oesophagitis and as a preventative measure against ulcers for people taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). A prescription medicine, you can buy Pantoprazole online from our UK based pharmacy.

  1. One tablet taken daily
  2. Provides relief from symptoms
  3. Available in 20mg and 40mg doses

GORD, which causes heartburn, acid reflux and problems swallowing, happens when the muscles at the bottom of the oesophagus are weakened, allowing stomach acid to find its way in, causing irritation. It can lead to reflux oesophagitis, where the oesophagus becomes inflamed by stomach acid.

There are several factors which can play a role in the cause of the condition, including being obese, smoking, drinking alcohol, eating fatty foods, having a hiatus hernia, or being pregnant. Some research suggests that it can be inherited from your parents.

You can help manage GORD yourself by avoiding large meals, exercising and controlling your weight, and some people find over the counter antacids adequate. But in cases where the symptoms are severe or long term, a treatment like Pantoprazole may be prescribed.

Pantoprazole is a selective proton pump inhibitor which helps lessen the amount of acid secreted by the stomach, therefore stopping excess acid working its way up into the oesophagus. As well as treating short term symptoms, it also allows the irritated oesophagus associated with reflux oesophagitis to heal and stops the problem recurring.

This medicine can be used to avert the development of stomach ulcers (also known as peptic or duodenal ulcers) in people who have needed to take extended courses of NSAIDs like ibuprofen, diclofenac or naproxen. Pantoprazole compensates for the reduction in levels of prostaglandins caused by these treatments, which helps to safeguard the stomach lining.

Renewing your Pantoprazole prescription online has never been easier. Once your request has been agreed by one of our medical professionals, it will be dispensed by our UK based pharmacy and delivered direct to your door.
