Almogran is a tablet used for migraine relief, marketed in the UK by Almirall. The active ingredient, almotriptan, emulates the effect of serotonin and reduces swelling in blood vessels in the brain.
We can help you get your migraine treatment delivered to your home. All you need to do is complete a simple online consultation, and your case will be assessed by a doctor.
Part of the triptan group of painkillers, Almogran has been developed specifically to work on the symptoms of migraines. It should be taken as soon as you notice the onset of an attack, though it will also be effective if taken in the later stages of the migraine. Almogran is marketed by Almirall and you can buy it online with a prescription from our UK based pharmacy.

Migraines are a common and debilitating condition, and can involve a number of stages and symptoms. A migraine attack, as well as being characterised by a throbbing headache on one side or front of the head, is also accompanied by vomiting, nausea and extreme sensitivity to visual and aural stimulation.
Between ten and thirty per cent of those who get migraines experience a migraine with aura, where the headache is preceded by common signifiers which usually last less than an hour. The individual sees shapes, dots, lines or sparkles, and has sensations of vertigo, dizziness or pins and needles. Less frequently, no headache follows theses disturbances.
No-one quite knows what the exact causes of migraines are, but a hereditary link has been established, with about half of people experiencing them having a close family member who is also affected. They are thought to be brought on by changes to the chemical makeup and size of blood vessels around the brain. These changes appear to be triggered by several possible factors, for example: a change in caffeine intake; tiredness or lack of sleep; a change of routine; or drinking red wine.
Almogran is a triptan painkiller, which is a type used particularly to relieve the symptoms of migraines. The active ingredient of Almogran is almotriptan, which is known as a selective serotonin receptor agonist. It imitates the actions of serotonin and works the receptors in the brain, causing affected blood vessels to return to their normal size, therefore alleviating the headache.
If you are having symptoms for the first time, or have not taken migraine medication before, we advise that you see your GP in person for further advice on suitable treatments.

You are advised to read the directions on the patient information leaflet before taking this item, and follow closely any instructions given to you by the practitioner who prescribed the treatment.
- Take as directed.
- Almogran should only be taken with the onset of a migraine, and should not be used as a preventative measure.
- Take one tablet with water as soon as symptoms become apparent. If that is not possible, almogran is still effective when taken at a later stage.
- If symptoms do not recede, you should not take another tablet for that attack.
- Should you get another migraine within 24 hours, you may take another tablet, but you should leave at least two hours between your first and second tablet.
- Do not take more that two tablets in a 24 hour period.
- You should not take more than one tablet in any 24 hour period if you have a serious kidney disease.
- Do not take more than one tablet at a time to make up for a missed dose.
- Almogran should not be taken by anyone under the age of 18.
- If you take more Almogran tablets than you should, seek immediate medical advice.
These directions are intended as a brief overview of the use of this item. Please read the patient information leaflet in full before using Almogran.
