Our private online testing facility has been processing a number of different tests for individual patients since 2017. The success of the service has involved the development of our own user platform to securely and efficiently communicate results. In May 2020 alone we facilitated over 1,500 individual tests.

Your named COVID officer will receive a weekly report via secure email.
Your weekly stat report includes:
- the number of samples collected
- testing done up to and including the previous Sunday
- information relating to tests planned but not obtained
- exception report showing any results not returned within required timeframes
- significant event analysis report within 48 hours for any near-miss or untoward event (such as sample contamination, team members presenting with symptoms or data breach).
What does the test look for?
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) test uses a swab to collect a sample from the throat and nose. The test checks whether the SARS-CoV-2 strain is present. A positive test result signifies that the patient is currently infected.
What is the difference between PCR testing and antibody testing?
The PCR swab of the throat and nose checks for active infections. A positive test result requires the individual to self-isolate for seven days.
Antibody testing analyses a blood sample to check for the presence of COVID-19 specific antibodies. A positive test result means that the individual has previously had the virus. Antibody tests cannot currently advise on any level of immunity against reinfection.

How does regular testing help?
It is generally understood that Coronavirus does not cause symptoms in everyone it infects. This means that the virus can be unknowingly transmitted. Regular testing allows organisations to act quickly when needed in order to protect the health of their team and the wider population.
What type of testing is being used?
We supply PCR testing as recommended by the World Health Organisation.
How are samples collected?
A PCR test requires a molecular sample taken from the throat and nose. Our bespoke packages allow businesses to choose from self-collection or NMC-registered nursing staff to perform collection.
What protection do you provide for your staff?
Our dedicated nursing team will be provided with full PPE in line with current government guidelines.
Where are the samples analysed?
Our UKAS accredited partner laboratories, TDL Pathology and YourGene Health, carry out sample analysis.
How quickly are test results turned around?
YourGene health is one of the few UK labs that can process COVID-19 tests within 24 hours.
What happens when a test is positive?
When a positive test result is reported, the individual will be contacted directly and advised to self-isolate. With consent, our team will then inform the named COVID officer at your organisation. We can provide expert advice on what action is required in the event of a positive result.
How secure is the data you collect?
We comply with GDPR requirements on data protection. The privacy and security of all end users is of the utmost importance.
How accurate are your tests?
Our tests provide the same level of accuracy (over 99% sensitivity and specificity) as tests performed in NHS clinical settings.
Can false negatives occur with the PCR test?
We provide easy-to-follow instructions for end users performing self-collection tests. Our nursing team is trained and experienced in PCR sample collection.
Does private testing have an impact on NHS testing?
Across the board NHS testing is being prioritised by labs. However, we do not anticipate this to impact our private testing service.
YourGene Health is likely to serve as our primary lab due to their rapid turnaround time of results. TDL is the largest independent pathology laboratory service in the UK and can provide cover for any overflow.
