What is Terbinafine?
Terbinafine is an antifungal tablet that helps treat ringworm, a fungal skin condition where ring-like patches form on your body. These patches are typically red, sensitive, itching, and inflamed. Although ringworm isnโt a serious condition, itโs highly contagious, so it’s good to get treated right away.
Ringworm is usually treated with topical antifungal creams, but if the infection is severe or persistent, then oral antifungal treatments like Terbinafine can be prescribed off-label. How does Terbinafine work?
Terbinafine works by stopping the production of ergosterol, an important component in the fungal cell wall. Without ergosterol, the fungus struggles to grow and survive. This makes it easier for your immune system to clear the infection.1

Some people may experience side effects, such as loss of appetite, stomach ache, nausea, headache, and indigestion. These side effects should only last a short while and subside as your body adjusts to the treatment. If they worsen or become unmanageable, inform your doctor.
