Convenience
For some people, self-administering injections can be daunting. Even if you’ve gotten used to injecting yourself when using a GLP-1 pen, it might still feel painful to do and can sometimes cause bruising.
Switching to a weight loss pill completely removes any needle phobias or doubts about how to correctly use your treatment. Swallowing a tablet each day can be easily incorporated into your daily routine, and might make your dosage schedule feel simpler too.
Travel and storage
All GLP-1 injections, such as Wegovy, are stored between 36°F and 46°F (2°C and 8°C). This means they need to be kept in the refrigerator at all times at home, and packed into gel ice packs to stay cool when delivered to you.
Storing injections in the refrigerator at home might be easy enough, but they can sometimes take up valuable space. If you’re in a rental or shared housing, you may feel like you don’t want them to be visible for other people to see.
Because weight loss pills are stored at room temperature, you can keep them virtually anywhere. There’s a much lower risk of spoilage, and they’re a much simpler option for traveling as you don’t need to worry about keeping them chilled.
Fewer fluctuations
When you’re using a weekly weight loss injection like Wegovy, you typically experience a spike of the medication in your system in the first few days after taking your dose. But toward the back end of the week, when your next injection is almost due, it’s normal for those levels to dip.
This fluctuation can make it harder to regulate your appetite consistently, and might mean that you feel like the medication is wearing off. Because you take tablets like Foundayo or the Wegovy pill daily, there should be a more even level of the active medication in your bloodstream, which can mean you’re less likely to experience hunger and ‘food noise’ between doses.
